  • Describe best practices for communicating with responding crews and the flight crew. 
  • Describe key operational objectives and tactical priorities when leading a response to an aircraft engine fire.
  • Apply effective size-up principles when responding to an aircraft engine fire. 
  • Describe key incident management actions, including requesting appropriate assistance, effectively positioning vehicles, and establishing an Incident Control Point (ICP).
  • Describe the purpose and key elements of an Incident Action Plan (IAP).
  • Describe best practices for communicating the action plan to the response team.
  • Identify leadership actions required to manage team safety, maintain incident control, and oversee post-incident activities during an aircraft engine fire.

  • Safety factors.
  • The role of the Incident Safety Officer (ISO).
  • What is an Incident Action Plan (IAP)?
  • Developing and communicating your action plan to your team.
  • Elements of an effective action plan.
  • Engine fire initial deployment – ARFF vehicle positioning.
  • Factors influencing response priorities and actions. 
  • Example of a tactical plan.
  • Initial attack – using monitors.
