About this course

This course is designed to provide learners with vital strategies for reducing occupational cancer risks. Learners will also gain insight into prevention, early detection, and proactive health measures tailored for firefighters. The course is mapped to and aligns with the following international standards:

  • NFPA 1500 – Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health and Wellness Program.

  • Describe presumptive cancer legislation and compensation processes, where applicable to the learner’s jurisdiction.
  • Describe record-keeping, exposure reporting, and documentation practices related to firefighter cancer risks.
  • Outline available support processes for firefighters affected by cancer.
